From the President

Happy New Year! We look forward to 2023 by welcoming Chris Marr and Carol Burdick to the Evergreen Audubon Board. Thanks to all the members who participated in voting and to Chris and Carol for volunteering to serve.

We wrapped up 2022 by raising just over $10,000 for Evergreen Audubon during Colorado Gives Day and over $8,000 in wreath sales (we’re still waiting on the final billing)! Thanks to all who supported us for these fundraisers.

Speaking of fundraisers, the Nature Center Annual Bash and Benefit will be on Saturday, April 22nd at the Evergreen Christian Church. We’ll have the silent auction, drinks, and appetizers in the fellowship hall and then move to the sanctuary for the live auction and paddle raise. Everyone should start thinking of experiences that would make good silent auction items, such as hosting cooking events, giving tours, teaching a skill, or even donating tickets to area events. We’ll also be looking for volunteers to help solicit area businesses for their silent auction donations. If you’d like to help, please contact Holly Marr, who’s coordinating the event this year.

As you make your New Year’s resolutions, consider dedicating Evergreen Audubon as your charity when you shop at King Soopers and Amazon (via smile.amazon.com). Both organizations give us donations based on your purchases. We typically receive about $800 from King Soopers and $200 from Amazon. It’s an easy way to donate without having to think about it. For details about King Soopers visit King Soopers Reward Program and for Amazon visit https://smile.amazon.com.

And of course, consider doing the Birding Challenge this year! We just ordered more hats in anticipation that more folks will participate in 2023! Congratulations to those who achieved the challenge in 2022.

I look forward to seeing you at the Banquet on January 20th!
