From the Director: New Summer Programming!

This year has already showcased a number of new programs at Evergreen Nature Center; including our “Morning Birds & Brews” on the last Friday of each month, the start of our “Living in a Watershed” series, an “Intro to Astronomy” and more! And our busy season is just getting started!

The first new program this summer is our birding programs with Golden Gate Canyon State Park. We are expanding our programming within our regional zip codes to Black Hawk and Gilpin County. These birding programs explore the beautiful State Park and are for birders of all abilities! In June (6/21) we’ll be hosting a Raptor Walk through the park, and in July (7/19) our “Intro to Birding” is focusing on songbirds in the park as we take a short hike from the Visitor Center. Whether you’re new to birding, or looking to explore a new birding spot, we hope you’ll join us!

We are also partnering with Evergreen Parks & Recreation (EPRD) to host a new pre-k program at Evergreen Lake – “Evergreen Explorers”!  This program is geared toward children under 5 years of age with an adult and will explore early childhood readiness skills through outdoor exploration. We’ll start with some movement activities before heading out for a short walk along the boardwalk. This is part of our inclusive programs that aim to get children of all abilities outdoors!

These programs are in addition to our regular family programs on the last Saturday of each month, our weekly “Preschool Adventures” program at ENC, and so much more! Check the calendar throughout the summer for all kinds of exciting opportunities to explore the outdoors with Evergreen Audubon & Nature Center!
