Bring the whole family out for an early morning to see birds up close!

Visit the seasonal bird banding station operated by Bird Conservancy of the Rockies at Denver Audubon’s Nature Center at Chatfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to see birds up close as Bird Conservancy Staff capture, band, band and release migrating and local songbirds as part of their long-term monitoring to understand bird populations and trends. 

We will begin the morning at the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies bird-banding station where we will have the opportunity to see several species in-the-hand and learn about their migratory behavior. Plan to meet at the Denver Audubon Nature Center no later than 7:20 AM. (details provided to registrants). 

Following our time at the Banding Station there will be an optional bird walk at the Denver Audubon/Chatfield State Park property along the South Platte adjacent to the Nature Center that is part of Chatfield State Park. There are many spring migrant and resident birds active in the park at this time, so if you would like to participate in the walk, be sure to bring a pair of binoculars!

• Water
• Snack
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Weather appropriate clothes
• Binoculars! (Optional)

You must register here to attend this event.  If you are registering for more than one person, please enter each person separately. This event is filled when we have 14 registrants.

Please note: Denver Audubon schedules these banding station visits; they are very popular and fill rapidly. We have committed to fifteen spaces for our members and we want to fill those spaces so as many members as possible can enjoy this incredible experience.
