Wigwam Creek flows east out of the Kenosha Mountains in the Lost Creek Wilderness Area and joins the South Platte River just upstream from Deckers. For almost all of its twenty-two mile length it flows through part of the huge area decimated by the Hayman Fire in 2002.

This past Saturday Evergreen Audubon and Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) conducted a joint bird walk at Sacramento Creek Ranch, a wonderful 71-acre property near Fairplay.
Through the years Beaver Meadows has been a special spot for Evergreen Audubon and dear to the hearts of many of us.
Well, we had an outstanding spring morning at Evergreen Lake with a wonderful variety of birds (41 species), breakfast foods (infinite variety), and bird-lovers of all abilities (43).
Well, Saturday was a huckleberry above a persimmon day. You’ll have to look it up. We’re not just all about birds here!
A marvelous spring morning was had at South Platte Park; quite chilly to begin with, but it got very nice as the day progressed and we had some wonderful birds! For starters we had eleven duck species.
