Calling all young explorers! If your child loves being outside and being active in nature, then sign up your Cheeky Chickadee for our Forest Immersion Camp! These half-day camps are focused on supervised, self-directed play in nature. Science tools and art materials will be offered to campers, but the focus of these camps will be to allow kids to explore the forest in a safe, fun and unstructured way. Nature play encourages opportunities for deeper, self-directed learning, choice, teamwork, in addition to emotional and social development. The Evergreen FlexRide service will be accommodating our camps by picking up and dropping off our group of Cheeky Chickadees at the nature center and taking us to a new open space each following day. Does your young explorer enjoy a good outdoor challenge? Our Explore More! Nature Camps are drawing from our Evergreen Nature Center’s Explore More! Challenge book. Each day we will embark on a new journey and nature challenge in a new natural area. Challenges will include: Hiking, Respectful Recreation, Plants, Birds and Wildlife. As a group we will search for as many plants, birds and animals as we can for our challenges as well as incorporating Leave No Trace principles into our exploration. Campers will be given the choice of utilizing a variety of science tools, art materials and nature journals to complete their challenges and connect more deeply with the natural world.
We will begin our first day of camp learning how to “Respectfully Recreate” around Evergreen Lake and execute each of our Explore More! challenges at a new open space park each following day of camp. The Evergreen FlexRide bus service will be accommodating our camps by picking up and dropping off our group of Cheeky Chickadees at the nature center and taking us to a new open space each following day. Nature Ninjas
8 – 13 year-olds
9:00am – 12:00pm
Campers will perfect and harness their “nature ninja” skills through awareness-heightening games, team building activities, mapping exercises, mindfulness activities and lessons in Leave No Trace. We will learn important survivals skills, how animals camouflage in the woods and how we can hide in plain sight. This camp is perfect for older campers who enjoy the challenge of working with others, expanding upon their own independence, optimizing all their senses and connecting deeply with nature. This camp will begin by spending a half-day on Monday at the nature center. Each day following, the Evergreen FlexRide bus service will be accommodating our camps by picking up and dropping off our group of Nature Ninjas at the nature center and taking us to a new open space. About our Staff and Volunteers
Our staff has more than 15 years experience with outdoor and environmental education. Our volunteers have all gone through extensive training. The ratio of adult to child during summer day camp is 1:7.

COVID-19 UPDATES
Will Evergreen Audubon be running camps this summer?
At this time, Evergreen Audubon plans to run 5 weeks of half-day summer camps. We have not yet cancelled any camps. We are frequently monitoring the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment and Jefferson County updates and we plan to follow all guidelines and directives in regard to social distancing due to COVID-19. If there are any changes to our schedule we will provide updates to parents through email and through our website.
What happens if camp is cancelled or if you want to cancel a child’s registration?
Our cancellation policy allows parents to move their registration to any other week in the camp season or get a 100% refund as long as the cancellation occurs before the start date of the camp. For any cancellations that occur on or after the start of the camp, parents will be offered a 100% credit to any other week in the 2021 camp season.
We hope that if camp is cancelled or if you choose to cancel your child’s registration, you might consider donating all or a part of your registration fee to Evergreen Audubon. As a small nonprofit, we rely on the income we make each year at summer camp to maintain other education programs throughout the year
