A marvelous spring morning was had at South Platte Park; quite chilly to begin with, but it got very nice as the day progressed and we had some wonderful birds! For starters we had eleven duck species.
As Evergreen Audubon continues to expand its network of local organizations with whom we share an affinity for nature, conservation, and education, we began with the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) by giving one of their four Evergreen chapters a presentation about Evergreen Audubon back in November. This was followed up this past week by taking some of their members and spouses on a bird walk down at South Platte Park.
On a nice winter day Rosy-Finches may be all the way up in the highest couloirs of Mount Blue Sky, and then the next day, following a snowstorm, they may all be down at Red Rocks or out in South Park.
This was a repeat of a raptor outing conducted on January 28th. It is interesting to contemplate the similarities and differences between the two days.
