From the Director: Summer Fun

The Evergreen Nature Center at Bancroft House has now been open for eight sequential months and has welcomed roughly 720 adults and 320 kids, for a total of 1,040 visitors. While these numbers are still reduced from our summer operations at Evergreen Lake, we are excited to continue this momentum into the summer months and expand our visitation for subsequent years! Those numbers do not include the hundreds of school and group participants that we have been able to host with our year-round location. May 1st marks one year of partnership with the Church of the Transfiguration and we could not be more thankful for the tremendous blessing this partnership has been for our organization.

We have so many exciting things planned for the upcoming months, but there are a few that I would like to highlight. Starting in May, the Evergreen Nature Center will host a monthly family program on the last Saturday of each month. These programs will be open to all ages and completely free! Our first family program will be on Saturday, May 25 – please check our website for details on the program time and topic. Bring friends and family for a fun-filled day at the Evergreen Nature Center each month!

Additionally, we are thrilled to be launching a weekly preschool program starting in May. These preschool programs will focus on developing early childhood readiness skills through nature exploration! Each week will have different activities geared toward children ages 2-5 years old – children must be accompanied by an adult. Come practice fine motor skills, literacy comprehension, and more at the Evergreen Nature Center! We hope you will join us for Preschool Adventures each week on Thursdays at 9:00 am starting May 16. Check our website for additional program details.

These programs are just the start of the numerous offerings we hope to launch soon. Thank you for your continued support; we look forward to having you join us as we grow and expand!
