Presentation Details
Our Evergreen World is beginning to emerge from the cold and dark of winter. Although March and April can bring deep wet snow, days are warmer and longer, and the promise of spring and the joys of summer are tantalizingly near.
One summer joy all of Evergreen anticipates is the arrival of hummingbirds, and our March 2024 Evergreen Audubon Chapter meeting will be all about these winged jewels that grace our flowers and feeders. We are indeed fortunate that Steve and Debbie Bouricius will present “Colorado Hummingbirds” in person on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 6:30 pm, at the Church of the Transfiguration, and virtually via Zoom (details below). Doors open at 6 pm, and you will want to arrive early to visit with your neighbors and Evergreen Audubon members, to grab a good seat for this presentation and to learn about all the great events and opportunities you can participate in with Evergreen Audubon.
The presentation on Colorado Hummingbirds will cover the lifelong discoveries of these tiniest birds by Steve and Debbie Bouricius. The talk highlights species that they have documented in over 25 years of banding hummingbirds in Colorado and four adjacent states—what they have learned and what they still hope to accomplish through banding. Included are ways to attract hummingbirds, tips on feeding, and the amazing array of plants they use. Steve touches on the trials of hummingbird life and some remarkable observations of their behavior.
