All ages and abilities welcome!  Join Chuck Aid for our bird walk on January 18, from 7:30 to 12:00.  Chatfield State Park surrounds the large reservoir built at the confluences of the South Platte River, Deer Creek, and Plum Creek.  The lake can be very good for winter waterfowl, while the extensive cottonwood gallery forests can provide a nice mix of landbirds.  In addition, portions of the park have shortgrass prairie.  The diversity of habitats results in the park having the greatest bird species diversity of any other location in the southwest metro area.

Bring water and a snack, and dress appropriately for the occasion.  Meet at the Evergreen Nature Center at 7:30 AM for our 30-minute drive down.  Other morning rendezvous sites can be arranged, and once I have a list of registrants, I’ll be in touch to work out these options.

There is a $10/car fee charged to enter the park, so make sure to have some cash.  A few of us have annual passes so we may be fine.

These walks are for Evergreen Audubon members and their guests. Non-members won’t be turned away but will be encouraged to join Evergreen Audubon.  You must register here to attend this event.  If you are registering for more than one person, please enter each person separately.  This event is filled when we have 12 registrants, but it is possible to put yourself on the waitlist and cancellations do occur with some regularity.

Thanks!  Chuck Aid
