meeting format that we hope you will enjoy just as much, and will be more comfortable to boot! Our next and future summer meetings (June, August and September) will be a less formal gathering at our Evergreen Nature Center.
We inaugurate our new summer meeting format on Tuesday August 6, 2024. Doors open at 6 pm, with a a brief gathering for news and announcements at 6:30 pm. The remainder of the time will be open for socializing, enjoying the exhibits at the Nature Center, and to take the opportunity for one-on-one questions and answers with a guest expert on the flora and fauna of our Evergreen World.
Jake Sonberg, Colorado Parks and WIldlife’s District Wildlife Manager/Wildlife Officer for the Evergreen South district will be our featured guest expert. The Evergreen South district encompasses a range of ecosystems across our watershed, from the foothills of

Morrison to the summit of Mt. Evans. The human footprint within his district includes Evergreen, Conifer, Kittredge, Idledale, Pine, and Bailey. Jake will be available for you to ask those burning questions you have about the wildlife in the Bear Creek Watershed, as well as the varied and diverse duties he has, which include managing human-wildlife interactions, conducting surveys of the terrestrial and aquatic biota within the watershed, engaging in outreach and education of our human residents and enforcing hunting and fishing regulations in order to maintain the quality of the ecosystems we all enjoy. So start thinking about the questions you might like to ask!
So, please plan to come and enjoy the company of your fellow Evergreen Audubon members, take in the exhibits of the Evergreen Nature Center and the beauty of Bancroft Meadow, and learn more about the creatures that we share our watershed with! We look forward to seeing you there!
