All ages and abilities welcome! Join Ed Furlong for our Saturday July 20 bird walk at Pine Valley Ranch Park, from 6:20 to 12 noon. The ranch is located near Pine, via Hwy 285 to
Pine Valley Road and Crystal Lake Road. As summer progresses, and our open spaces attract visitors, an early start will minimize the effect of heat and crowds on our birding. Those who wish to carpool will meet at the Evergreen Library at 6:20 am, or meet at the Pine Valley Ranch Parking Lot at 7 am, when will begin our walk.
As noted on the Colorado Birding Trail website, Pine Valley Ranch Park has a variety of habitats conducive for many foothills/montane species, Riparian willow habitat along the North Fork of the South Platte conducive to sparrows and warblers, dippers in the stream, bluebirds in the meadow, House and Canyon Wrens at cliff edges and a burn area adjacent to Ponderosa Pines that support a variety of woodpeckers. Several of the trails are hike only, others are multiuse.
Bring water, a snack, and rain gear and plan to meet at Pine Valley Ranch Park by 7:00 AM – http://https://www.jeffco.us/1428/Pine-Valley-Ranch-Park. Details will be provided to registrants.
These walks are for Evergreen Audubon members and their guests. Non-members won’t be turned away but will be encouraged to join Evergreen Audubon. You must register here to attend this event. If you are registering for more than one person, please enter each person separately. This event is filled when we have 12 registrants, but it is possible to put yourself on the waitlist and cancellations do occur with some regularity.
Thanks! Ed Furlong
