Vision:
An engaged, inclusive, and diverse community aware of the natural world and embracing conservation of natural resources.
Mission:
The Mission of the Evergreen Audubon is to conserve wildlife and natural ecosystems, provide community science experiences, and inspire and educate our community to benefit all people and biodiversity. The purpose of the Evergreen Nature Center, operated by Evergreen Audubon, is to foster contagious enthusiasm and life-long respect for the natural world by providing fun and inspiring educational experiences for people throughout the entire Bear Creek Watershed.
History:
Evergreen Audubon was founded first as the Evergreen Naturalists, Inc. in 1968 for the purpose of conserving and protecting the natural environment, and informing the community about the natural environment.
In 1978, it became a chapter of the National Audubon Society. The Evergreen Nature Center was opened in the warming hut on Evergreen Lake in the Spring of 2008 as a way for Evergreen Audubon to reach out the community and visitors. We welcome anyone and everyone who is interested in the natural world.

From Our Founders:
Bud Weare, Sylvia Robertson and Heather Schwartz had a chance to sit down and reminisce with two of Evergreen Audubon’s founders, Sylvia Brockner and Louise Mounsey.
Watch the short five-ten minute videos:
- Sylvia talks about starting The Evergreen Naturalist Audubon Society
- Louise talks about spotting the Ivory-Billed woodpecker
Special thanks to Heather for her videography and editing skills!
