Join us in welcoming Trevor Roche, the newest Nature Center Educator at Evergreen Audubon! Trevor grew up in Evergreen, giving him a deep appreciation and firsthand knowledge of the local landscapes, wildlife, and community that make this area so special. During this chapter meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to get to know Trevor, learn about his background and passion for environmental education, and hear what he’s looking forward to in his new role. We’re excited to have him on the team and know he’ll be a wonderful addition to Evergreen Audubon’s staffing and team.

About the Speaker

As an Evergreen native Trevor is extremely excited to be joining the Evergreen Audubon and Nature Center team where he can share his lifelong passion for science, nature and conservation with a whole new generation of learners right here in the community he grew up in!

Having been surrounded by the tremendous privilege of Evergreens forests and wildlife as a kid Trevor has been passionate about nature and conservation for as long as he can remember.  He started down his conservation career path as a volunteer tour guide at the Denver Aquarium while still in high school, and after graduating from EHS went on to the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he studied marine mammalogy and graduated with an honors degree in Marine Biology.  While at UNCW Trevor’s excitement for conservation education led to him working at the North Carolina Coastal Federation as an education and outreach intern where he co-lead numerous community events as well as taught school groups and created educational exhibits about local conservation issues.  

Trevor’s twin passion for science drove him to volunteer with the UNCW Marine Mammal Stranding Program as the undergraduate stranding coordinator. As a volunteer Trevor had the opportunity to work with a team of world renowned veterinarians and scientists collecting samples and data that was shared around the world to help conserve marine mammals.  After getting his degree Trevor moved back to Colorado for a short time before his passion for ocean conservation took him to California where he worked as a Fisheries Observer on board commercial fishing vessels collecting data and samples for NOAA which were used to help set fishing limits, create population estimates and conserve overfished species.

Now that the call of the mountains has lured Trevor back, in his free time he can often be found volunteering at the Denver Botanic Gardens, hiking, climbing, birding and traveling anywhere the call of adventure may take him (and always with his trusty camera in hand).
