Chapter Meeting Details

We have found that the sanctuary at the Church of the Transfiguration is not an ideal setting for our regular chapter meetings during the hot summer months – it can get very warm and very stuffy.  So, we’re going to try something new!

August and September meetings will be informal gatherings on the porch of  Evergreen Nature Center. They will each feature a guest expert who will be available for casual conversation and ready to answer any questions you may have.  The nature center will be open so that you can see what’s new:  Jennifer the Bull Snake will be showing off her new habitat; our new taxidermy wolf will be on exhibit; and you won’t want to miss the new Bird Garden in the back yard – designed and planted by our garden volunteers – with a new feeding station donated by Front Range Birding Company. We also invite you to explore  beautiful Bancroft Meadow and the little stretch of Bear Creek that runs near by.

Jake Sonberg, our August guest, is the Wildlife Manager for the Evergreen South district of Colorado Parks and Wildlife.  His district runs from the foothills of Morrison to the summit of Mt. Blue Sky, and includes a wide variety of ecosystems and wildlife. In addition to managing human-wildlife interactions, Jake conducts environmental research, is responsible for outreach and education, and enforces hunting and fishing regulations.

We look forward to seeing you on August 6th.
