From the Director: The Evergreen Nature Center is Opening!

I am looking forward to our first full season of operation at the ENC in two years! We will be open weekends in May, starting Saturday, May 7 from 11 am – 5 pm, and will switch to our full hours on Wednesday, June 1. Maddy and I would love to see you at the Center, so please drop in and say “Hi” sometime this summer!

The operation of the Nature Center is only possible due to our incredible volunteers. Last year, volunteers contributed 265 hours to ENC operations alone! If you’re interested in becoming a part of this amazing group, please mark your calendar for our upcoming training dates. These training sessions are hosted at the Nature Center and light refreshments are provided. Attend on Tuesday, May 3, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm or Wednesday, May 4, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

In addition to the Nature Center opening, our Wildlife Watch Spring Season kicks off near the end of the month. Wildlife Watch is a collaborative program supported by Evergreen Audubon, Denver Parks & Recreation, and Wild Aware. Our mission is to foster wildlife awareness, safety and appreciation in our mountain community. We are hosting a volunteer training on Saturday, May 14, 8:00 am – 10:00 am at the Evergreen Nature Center. Please email me if you’re interested in getting involved!

Lastly, we have tons of programming on the horizon! Our Watercolor Workshops are weekly on Mondays through May 23; our brand-new Social Hikes kick off on Friday, May 20; Storytime at Evergreen Lake begins on Wednesday, June 1; we are hosting our second Native Plant Sale on Friday, June 3; and Summer Camps begin the second week in June!
